P.P-C - Response to Music Track

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jBZ0BuTOx0M

What is the genre of the track? How can you tell?
I think that this track could come under a range of genres, for example; Indie and pop. I think this because of the style of music, and the bands image. There are different things for us to look at to identify the type of genre.

Do you think this track represents a high or low fi video? Why?
I think that the track ‘Fall For Anything’ would represent a low fi video. Most videos that the script has produced previously don’t show any signs of a high fi video. Also the lyrics from the song would be quite easy to turn into a low fi visual without the need to spend more money. Furthermore looking at the image of this band you would expect their videos to be quite simple, but configure to the lyrics in the song.

What videos would be comparable?
Other videos that would be good to compare are the following, Talk you Down, Man who can’t be moved and Breakeven all of which are by the script. Then it would be good to compare them to other bands videos, who produce a similar style of music such as, The calling, an example of their videos would be ‘Wherever you will go’. In this track they use a lot of shots of the band singing, similar to the script.

I think that this song would need a video which told the audience a story, with clips of the band singing. As I feel that this song is quite emotion I would make some of the shots in black and white to show different expressions and sentiment. In the treatment would feature a male and female and then a gang. In the video there would be two stories being told, it would then keep showing different parts of the story using flash backs and other such effects. In one story the male would be very dominant and the female would be very sweet and a bit of a push over. Then in the other story there would be a gang trying to make a kid do things he doesn’t want to. There would also be two different endings, one ending quite dramatically and the other for the better. the title of the song 'Fall for Anything' fits with the story i would be telling, it explains how other people can bring you down and force you to do things you dont want to, therefore is trying to explain and tell people to do want you think is best and not what others think.

For the gang I would situate some of the clips in the grove and outside a police station in Tunbridge wells or Tonbridge, these locations would be suitable for a number of reasons. For the other half of the story I would use locations like Calverly Park, a house and maybe a clip from the beach, to use as footage of a flashback.

Certain effects I would use are;
-black and white
-fade in and out
-split screen
-slow motion

Other than the members in our group, i would need to employ the following people; singer, backing singer, drummer, guitarist and camera men.
