A.S - Response To A Music Track

Cobra Starship – Fold Your Hands Child
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lJxq4Gzygaw

What is the genre of the track? How can you tell?
The genre of the track is pop/rock, as it uses electrical instruments such as keyboards, common with pop music, but it also has traits of a rock song, such as guitars, drums and a male singer.

Do you think this track represents a high or lo fi video? Why?
I believe that the track represents a low-fi video, as the lyrics convey a story that can easily happen in our everyday lives, so need for a high financial budget to show this would not be needed.

What videos would be comparable?
Videos that could be comparable to this song include ‘Fallout Boy’ – ‘Sugar, We’re Going Down Swinging’ and ‘Paramore’ – ‘Ignorance’. The song appears to be about two lovers, who have been together since they were children/teenagers. The singer (male) is attempting to persuade the other that now that they are older, they should not listen to what people think of them or have to say, and that the other should do what they need and want to do, but close to the ending it becomes unclear, as the singer seems to have apparently left. However, there are references to them being childlike, and how ‘They can never find our secret hiding spot, where we play all day’.

Give an outline of a treatment & Identify suitable locations for filming particular sequences of the music.
A possible treatment could be quite simple and low-fi as I think it would suit the song more. As the singer is trying to persuade the girl to do what she wants, it could be her walking around an old familiar childhood place, such as a playground or park, with him walking behind her singing the lyrics, but the girl ignoring him. As the song seems to be quite a saddening topic, the girl could be looking distressed and crying, ignoring the people who ask if she is ok, as if preoccupied with the situation being portrayed in the song. As the song goes on, the track changes to a slightly slower paced, at about 2:00 minutes, and here it could be flashbacks of the two’s lives together. After this bit, it goes back to the chorus and here the girl could finally turn around and see him, listen to his words and realise that he is right. The ending could be her walking in a determined manner towards a New York City type skyline, as this is often seen as a place where dreams come true. It also suits the lines ‘So fold your hands child, and walk straight now, go and take your best shot.’

What pro-filmic and post-production special effects would be suitable?
Post production effects would obviously include the flashbacks, and possibly a fade out at the end as the girl is walking towards the skyline.

Who else would you need to 'employ' to help you with this production?
The people I would need to employ would include camera-men, make up artists/stylists, producer, sound people, assistants and special effects people.
